GUEST FLYING PRIVILEGES
A. A guest flyer shall be defined as: A
radio control pilot that is a current member of AMA
and is sponsored and accompanied by a SARCC member
in good standing.
1. A guest who lives
within a twenty-five (25) mile radius of the flying
field will be allowed to fly up to three (3) times
per year.
2. A guest that
lives over twenty-five (25) miles away and requests
to fly at the SARCC field (such as someone on
vacation or someone that spends weekends in our
area) will be limited to seven (7) days per year.
3. Before the guest
is allowed to fly unassisted, they must demonstrate
their ability to fly safely while standing next to a
certified club instructor. They must be informed of
the AMA and Club safety rules and frequency board
procedures. Their radio must be 1991 certified. If
they do not willingly agree to abide by the rules,
if they display an attitude that seems suspicious
(argumentative, smelling of alcohol, etc.), any club
member has the right to refuse him/her the
opportunity to fly in order to prevent endangering
others. If they prove to be unskilled pilots, they
will only be allowed to fly on the buddy box with a
Certified Instructor. Instructors should not assist
the guest to the detriment of regular club student
flyers or members.
4. A club member
must be present during the times that the guest
utilizes the field. A club member must be the last
person to leave the field. No club member shall
leave a guest alone at the field. When the last
member is ready to leave, he/she should politely ask
the guest to leave. If the guest does not comply,
the member should call a club officer.
5. Each guest pilot
must show a current AMA card before being allowed to
fly.
6. Until a new
prospective member joins the club, he/she will be
considered a guest and therefore, must meet all the
requirements stated above, including, but not
limited to, the restrictions on the numbers of days
that they can fly. This will encourage the
prospective member to join as soon as possible.
5.
FREQUENCY CONTROL PROCEDURE_____________05/06/01
A. Immediately upon removing your
transmitters from your vehicle as you arrive at the
field, make sure that ALL transmitters are turned
off.
B. Before turning on any transmitter ensure
that your AMA card is attached in the proper
frequency covering their frequency on the frequency
control board.
C. To fly, check to see if your frequency is
empty, place your AMA card, name side out, on the
frequency number, attach a frequency pin to it and
proceed to fly. After you finish flying, turn off
your transmitter. It is your responsibility to
ensure SAFETY.
D. If you are waiting to fly and there are
three (3) flying, place your card, name side up,
behind the card of someone who is already flying.
When any pilot finishes a flight, before flying a
consecutive time, he/she should check to see if any
cards are behind his/hers on the board. If there is
anyone else waiting, they should be told that it is
now available for them to fly. This is a good way
to ensure that during busy times, everyone gets
his/her fair chance to fly.
E. If there are no cards behind yours when
you finish a flight, you can fly consecutive
flights, as long as frequency is available.
6.
PILOT INSTRUCTION PROGRAM
A. Every new member must complete the
structured formal club-training program before being
allowed to fly unassisted.
B. Certification of completion of the
program is signified by a certificate signed by the
club President and any two (2) Certified Club
Instructors for whom the student pilot demonstrated
the final requirements of the course.
C. To become a Club certified instructor
requires the club members, in good standing, to
volunteer at a club meeting and then be granted the
position, only after receiving a quorum of the club
member's votes. The volunteer should be an
experienced club flyer with the desire to patiently
train others.
1. The club
instructors shall follow the structured training
plan in detail to ensure each trainee receives and
learns everything necessary to become a successful
and safe pilot.
2. Each student
pilot will bring his/her training log with them for
each lesson.
3. Every new member,
no matter how proficient they may claim to be, must
demonstrate their flying proficiency while standing
next to a certified club instructor before they are
allowed to fly solo. The proficiency required is
that of the final exercise of the training program.
7.
MISCELLANEOUS
A. We are formed as a club to have fun, but
we must also be responsible. Our few rules are AMA
required for safety and insurance purposes or were
created to promote fairness for the overall group.
In order to maintain a safe environment, every
member is required to comply will all AMA and club
safety rules at all times. Every member is
encouraged to be a friendly reminder to each other
to follow the rules. We must do everything possible
to prevent anyone from being hurt and to prevent
property damage. Safety is of utmost importance and
our ability to keep a flying field heavily depends
on compliance. It only takes one (1) mistake to
hurt someone or cause an embarrassing situation that
may result in loss of club credibility and our
flying field.
