Established in February, 1998, by David Jones and Ricky Smith, the Southern Air R/C Club is a non-profit radio-controlled model aircraft club to promote the sport and hobby of flying R/C aircraft.

The club is a chartered member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA), charter #3976 flying out of Gaskins Field, Vanceboro, NC.
